Personal Statement

I have recently just completed my final year of study and have achieved Bsc (hons) degree in Beauty and Spa Management. The course was theory based and covered key areas of the beauty industry to gain new knowledge and skills on operating within a business.

I have already completed a HND in advanced therapies and salon management. The course contained a variety of theory and practical elements of both a holistic nature and aesthetics.

I feel that the course improved my skills not only as a therapist but has also provided a solid footing for management progression.

During my full time studies over the past three years I have worked casually to keep myself within the industry that I feel so passionate about.

Currently I am working at the Vale Hotel and Spa as a casual therapist and spa receptionist which I began whilst I was still studding on the degree course. The resort is beautifully set in the Welsh countryside and can boast that both the Cardiff football team and Wales National Rugby squad train at the resort and frequently use the spa facilities including treatments. The spa boasts a large treatment menu using brands such as Clarins and Temple spa.

I have worked in a variety of settings ranging from salons, spas and clinics, which has allowed me to delve into a different areas of the beauty industry. My time spent in spas has seen me progress and become comfortable and confident with my massage abilities as well as use of dry floatation beds, hydro baths, rasul chambers and other spa equipment and facilities. Still primarily working with the skin which is my passion I have used both natural beauty ranges and more advanced product lines and treatments such as CACI, Hydrafacial and skin peels.

Also I worked with Premiere-neige Chalet Company in France as a senior therapist/assistant manager. I supervised two members of spa staff on top of completing my own treatments and liaised with other departments. The Premiere-neige spa consists of 2 boutique treatment rooms in separate luxury chalets and a mobile service.

The Premiere-neige company is a family run business with the owner also working in the Middle East as Director of Flight Operations for AL Rajhi Holdings.

During my time with the company we on regular bases hosted Super Skills Legends which provided both corporate, non-corporate, celebrity and VIP guests an opportunity to holiday with sporting celebrities.

I have worked with Steiner on-board Norwegian cruise lines luxury cruise liner The Epic which travelled around both the Caribbean and Europe. During which time I developed my skills as an aesthetician working with the La Therapie and Elemis treatments and homecare. Throughout my contract I worked continuously to contribute to the large spa which in turn allowed me to progress and perform treatments in both the main spa and the Villa VIP Suites. This entailed building relationships with staff in both spas, increasing my knowledge of set up and close down in both spas and being able to offer a wider range of treatments for example the 24karat Gold Facial was only performed in the Villa Suites.

Before that I worked at the 5* Celtic Manor hotel and spa (Wales U.K). During my time there the 2010 Ryder cup (golf tournament) was hosted so there was a wide range on clientele staying in the hotel who frequented the spa facilities. This hotel also boasted two spas the main Forum site and a smaller separate lodge. I frequently worked in both so it was essential for me to understand the set up and close down of each spa.

As an individual I am trustworthy, reliable, hardworking, self-motivated and driven. I work very well as part as a team but am also just as efficient working individually. I have excellent communication skills and am able to understand, meet and resolve the needs of others.

I also have a full clean U.K driving license.
