Personal Statement

Beauty comes as much from the mind as from the eye – Grey Livingston. I believe this to be true that a person can come away from a treatment feeling a sense of happiness without needing the mirror to see the difference.

I am currently 21 years old and have just finished a contract with Steiner Transocean. I was with Steiner for one year which included intense training in their training academy in London. Then a 9 month contract with the company Carnival Cruises. The experience with Steiner was truly outstanding. It opened my eyes and I feel gave me the chance to grow up into a respectable holistic therapist. My 9 months with the company was very demanding and hard working. But every second of working made me stronger as a therapist and gave me valuable experience now for future jobs. I got to see some beautiful islands in the western Caribbean waters and I met some truly unforgettable people that made my contract. Part of my experience with the company was socialising with other crew members from other departments and I feel this shows that as a person outside the spa I am friendly and willing to interact with other people. My work always comes first but I feel you still need to enjoy the experience outside of working hours to gain the most from the opportunity given to me.

Before joining the ship I was in the training academy waiting for my position on the ship to become available. I did intense training on all Elemis products. I also got valuable training on performing seminars and performed one to the Steiner trainers about Aroma Massages. Unfortunately my Carnival ship only did fitness & facial seminars. I was very lucky and was able to be trained in several Elemis treatments including Aroma Stones, Thai Poultice & Aroma Spa Ocean Wrap.

I enjoyed my experience with Steiner very much and this has given me the drive to continue down the road of working and seeing the world at the same time.

Before Steiner I was at college for two years training up in Level 2 & 3 Beauty Therapy alongside part time courses such as sports massage. Whilst been at college I worked hard to achieve the best and as most as I could that would stand me in good stead of an amazing job when I left. I also have a Business and Media A level as a passion of mine is to grow within the beauty industry and be a manager one day. I was also lucky to get the opportunity to get experience from working in Susan’s Beauty salon whilst doing my second year at college. This gave me an insight into how a business is run and for me to gain experience in working as a receptionist. The manager also did small training sessions with me such as Jane Iredale make up tutorials and Geleration.

In my spare time I like to socialise with friends and family. I like to keep my fitness up so I regularly go to the gym and on walks with the family dog. I had 10 weeks’ vacation period from my last job and I am now looking into respectable high standard companies to start my next Job. Within any job I will always give 100% in my time, effort, determination and courage into making the Job a success for myself but also be a credit to the company.

Hobbies and Interests

Since arriving home from my contract with Steiner I have spent the majority of my time with Family & Friends alongside enjoying my vacation time.

I like to keep myself busy so I also like going out for the day or taking our family dog on walks.

I do try and keep my beauty skills up so I regular do family friends discounted treatments. This normally includes Manicures & Pedicures and Back, Neck and Shoulder Massages.

I am also part of our local gym and go 2-3 times a week.

I saw some beautiful places whist with Carnival and it will always be a passion and drive for myself to see new places alongside doing the job I love.
