Going into a career within the beauty and spa industry has always been an ambition of mine. The opportunity to begin a career overseas that would complement the diploma in Beauty Therapy would be extremely beneficial to me and my future career goals. I have a bright, bubbly, confident personality and have a love for working with others, which allows me to understand and communicate easily within a team. I am currently studying level 5 Beauty and Spa Management at Newcastle College, and looking forward to gain experience in the beauty industry and to extend my knowledge in more diverse fields such as spa management. At the moment I perform treatments daily in a salon environment in a Spa and at college. This experience has given me an insight into a more permanent workplace with paying clients and how important factors such as forming a rapport with the customer as well as more technical aspects, such as infection control and proper salon technique. I have great time management skills, I will complete a treatment within the given time. I realise that education and training is life long, and will always keep up to date with current research practice in the beauty industry.
Seeking to work in International Locations
I currently work in a 5 star hotel spa called Seaham Hall Serenity Spa. Some of the main duties that I perform daily are performing beauty and spa treatments to a high standard, taking care of clients and ensuring that they receive only the best after care information, helping with day to day salon cleaning and tidying, as well as helping out colleagues with resetting treatment rooms and helping with stock taking.
As part of my foundation degree at college, I had to part take in a week of work experience. I was lucky enough to be chosen to work in a 5 star hotel spa at Wynyard Hall. Here I learned how a small spa runs, and learned the responsibilities of the different roles within a spa. I also got the chance to learn, and work with the luxury product brands, Temple Spa and OPI. As well as this I helped with all aspects of spa duties, which included touring guests around the spa, how to use the spa facilities such as the Rasul, and helping with general tidying and cleanliness of the spa.
Throughout my time studying level 3 at college, part of my course was to work one day a week at a local beauty and spa retreat named 'Escape at San Marie' as part of my work experience. I have gained a valuable insight into customer service and seen the first hand the challenges faced when managing a salon. I have carried out salon duties such as answering the phone, making appointments and taking messages, tidying around the salon and helping customers. I have also undertaken some in house training in Guinot Beaute Neuve facials, Backscratcher’s acrylic nails and eye lash perms.
'UK Girl Thing' provides pamper services for different types of parties such as hen parties or birthday parties, which can be up to 30 people. We offered different treatments such as facials and different types of massages, which have been adjusted to fit the busy and demanding environment.
